What is polyaspartic?
Polyaspartic is a type of coating that cures much faster than standard epoxy and does not yellow in sunlight. We use it as a base coat, a topcoat, or both, often with a flake broadcast in between. Because it cures fast, the crew has to work quickly and in small sections.
How does it compare to epoxy?
- Speed. Polyaspartic systems usually finish in about one day. A standard two-day epoxy system takes longer to cure.
- Sunlight. Polyaspartic stays clear in UV, which matters for garages with the door open a lot and for patios.
- Temperature. It can be installed in a wider range of temperatures.
- Cost. The material costs more than epoxy, so the job usually costs more.
Why choose it here?
South Gate is warm most of the year, and heat plus city dust and grime work into bare concrete fast. A UV-stable topcoat handles open garage doors and bright light without turning amber over time.
Can polyaspartic fix an old floor?
Yes, as long as we grind off what is failing first. If your current coating has peeling or hot-tire damage, we remove the loose material, repair the slab, and recoat.
Polyaspartic FAQs
Does it smell?
There is an odor during install. We ventilate the space, and the smell drops quickly as it cures.
Is it as tough as epoxy?
Yes. As a topcoat it is often more scratch and stain resistant than standard epoxy clear coats.
